Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band
Peter Rowan was one of the major cult bluegrass artists of the '80s, winning a devoted, international fan base through his independent records and constant touring. A skilled singer/songwriter, Rowan also yodeled, and played numerous stringed instruments and the saxophone. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts; his parents and many of his relatives were musicians, and it seemed only natural that Rowan too would become one. When he was a teenager, he frequently hung out at the Hillbilly Ranch, where he heard such bluegrass and old-time bands as the Lilly Brothers. He also enjoyed listening to the blues. Read more

Hickory Project
What started as a routine experiment has turned into a revolutionary project, henceforth known as The Hickory Project. The band features hard–driving traditional and original acoustic music with the expert licks of National Mandolin Champion Anthony Hannigan Steve Belcher, David Cavage and Dan Shipe, Coleman Smith, Mark Morris, Craig Vance and Billy Gilmore

The Hickory Project is globally acclaimed. They have captivated audiences throughout Europe, both the main land and Celtic Isles, Australia and all through the US. As musical ambassadors Hickory Project is taking their music worldwide.

Cabinet
With a tasty blend of banjo, mandolin, fiddle, pright bass and acoustic guitar, Cabinet has caught the ears of bluegrass admirers, jam band lovers and even fans in the indie scene.

Cabinet's fresh sound is the product of a diverse group of musicians with unique influences and backgrouds. The memers range in age from early 20s to mid 30s with drummer Novak being the oldest.

The Lost Ramlers
Neil Morris and John Updike formed the Lost Ramblers over 30 years ago and they and their many friends have been performing an eclectic mix of string band music throughout the Poconos ever since. At WinterFest they will be joined by Johnny Skeehan on mandolin, Tony De Marco on fiddle and Jim Schaffer on bass. Special guests will be the members of the Northeast Ballet performing Modern Dance to the recognizable rhythms of the string band repertory. John and Neil are officers in the Pocono Bluegrass and Folk Society that is sponsoring this festival.

Aimless Pursuit
Aimless Pursuit is a South East Pennsylvania area Acoustic String Band. We perform, Traditional, Contemporary, and Original: Bluegrass, Old Time, County Blues, Swing and Jamgrass music. Mason Porter
Mason Porter sits on the ground where creative songwriting and raw energy meld in to an alternative bluegrass sound that pushes the limits of traditional music. Combining lush harmonies with hand clapping sing-alongs and the unfiltered emotion of a hungry young rock band, Mason Porter is a force that evokes the spirits of each and every person whose life they touch. With a profound affection for the intrinsic and extrinsic powers of music, four guys held together by friendship and musicianship; these are the ingredients that in the end make Mason Porter a family connecting the musical past with the musical future.

Hillbilly Water
Hillbilly Water have been performing together for over 5 years. Having gotten their start in '02. The band is an acoustic trio featuring mandolin, guitar & bass. Louie Demayo is the lead singer and mandolin player. Lou is a huge fan of Bill Monroe and bluegrass music in general. Louie D. as he's called by friends and fans alike has been playing mandolin for over a dozen years. He's had the pleasure of hanging out and playing with Del McCoury, Adam Stefi, Allison Krauss and a bunch of others. On guitar we have the unassuming Ed Rainey. Ed's been playing for as long as he can remember and was brought up listening and playing old time country and bluegrass songs. Encouraged by his dad, himself a great banjo/vocalist, Eddie learned to play all the bluegrass instruments; Dobro, Guitar, Mandolin and Banjo. He is quite a talent and must be seen to believe. Not only does he play real good but he sings great too.

Folk Spirits
Sunday, January 31
Louie Setzer
One has only to listen to a few tunes from Louie and the Boys to realize that this is the real thing: genuine bluegrass from Louie’s heart and his soul. He would have it no other way. Like most of us, Louie has had his good times, but life can take some sharp turns. Louie Setzer has allowed his diverse experiences to sharpen his perception and understanding of our human existence. What it means for you and me is that we get to hear bluegrass as it was meant to be.

Plexigrass
Plexigrass was founded over 20 years ago with the intention of a group of talented musicians to play great bluegrass music. Over those twenty years, the outcome has been much more than that. The music is phenomenal and the bluegrass is what we like to call…

Shatterproof!!

These four guys know how to bring a hard-driving bluegrass sound to the stage. On rhythm and lead guitar, lead and harmony vocals is Doug Trotter. On bass, lead and harmony vocals is Lance Trotter. The mandolin man also singing lead and harmony is Scott Eager. And on banjo and vocals is Steve Wilson.

Stained Grass Window
In the course of performing for as many years as we have we can look back and see two stages to our evolution. The first part was where we labored pretty hard to become good musically. While we still work pretty hard at that we've matured as performers and have now come to understand that what we provide is not just something that is musically comptetent. The fact is, only a minority of the people we play before are musicians. People come to have a good time, not to be music critics. Our purpose must be to provide entertainment, allowing the members of the audience to just sit back and relax to the music we make.

Heavy Traffic
Heavy Traffic is a four piece traditional bluegrass band established in 2001. Based out of New Jersey, Heavy Traffic plays weddings, parties and festivals in the tri-state area. Founding member Earl Karlsen on mandolin and vocals hosts the Bluegrass Express radio show Saturday mornings on WFDU out of Farleigh Dickinson University. The band’s hard drive can be attributed to the savvy Scruggs style banjo pickin’ of Arnie Reisman. Heavy Traffic’s high lonesome sound comes from the unique tenor vocals of Jeff Propert who also compliments the group with his tasteful rhythm and lead guitar. This bluegrass quartet is powered by the solid bass playing of Guy Leatherman.
